INFORMATION
Before you paint, always remember to pre-fit the part parts to the car.  This way, you know that you have all the necessary parts to complete the job.

PAINTING
Paint prep consists of cleaning the parts with wax and grease remover, scuffing with Scotch-brite pads (to promote paint adhesion), and priming.  Shoot the parts with 3 coats color and 2 coats of clear.  The procedure used to paint the parts is similar to the procedure to paint a fender purchased from a car dealer.

INSTALLATION
McK kits come with 3M double-sided automotive tape to secure the parts to the vehicle.  The parts are then attached to the inner fender wells or rocker panels (door jam area) with screws or rivets supplied with the kit.  Extra care should be taken to prep the areas of the car where the double-sided tape will be attached.  In other words: Clean the areas with a grease and wax remover.

Molding kits to body?
Kits can also be molded to the body with the use of a 3M EASY SAND & FLEXIBLE PARTS REPAIR KIT.
The part numbers are 5887, 5895 & 5896. These products seal the kits joints to the body.
PLEASE NOTE: firberglass will not join plastic to metal, it eventually cracks and comes apart.

Can I install the kit myself?
Yes, you can install the kits yourself.  We do recommend however, that you take the kit to a professional paint shop.  Remember to always pre-fit before painting the parts.  Many people who are fixing up their older cars will paint the whole car and the kit at the same time to that the paint will match.

Is there any drilling?
You do have to pop-rivet the kit into the inner wheel wells of the car.

MATERIAL
ABS Plastic.  ABS Material has properties that make it somewhat flexible.  It is the easiest to work with when painting and installing.

Fiberglass doesn't flex.  It will crack instead of flexing like ABS.  Fiberglass usually has pinholes in the finish that need to have spot putty added and sanding done before you can begin the paint prep.

REPLACEMENT PARTS
We have replacement parts.  If you bought your kit from us, we will sell you replacement parts.
